A German aerospace company came to us when it was deceived by a major Texas defense contractor. The Texas company had promised to develop a high altitude surveillance aircraft exclusively with the German company. Instead it won a major Department of Defense contract to build the plane with another company. The Texas company's witnesses were, of course, a series of "good old boy" Texans, whereas our client's main witness had to testify through an interpreter. Nevertheless, we convinced a Texas jury to side with the German company and return a verdict finding of fraud and awarding $45 million of punitive damages.
